How to share your Proton subscription on Spliiit?

Proton is a suite of privacy tools (encrypted email, VPN, Drive, Pass, Calendar, etc.) designed to protect your privacy on a daily basis.

Proton has a sharing mode designed for multiple people: Duo (2 users) and Family (up to 6 users). Passwords are not shared; the owner invites members, and each co-subscriber keeps their own account.

Best practices for sharing Proton in 30 seconds

✅ Check storage: before inviting someone, Proton recommends checking whether all storage is already "assigned" to the admin. If not, you will need to free up some space before you can add a member.
✅ As the owner, if you remove a member, they will keep their data and switch to a 30-day trial.

Proton: Which plans can be shared on Spliiit?

On Spliiit, you can offer Proton as a host with 4 different offers:

Owner: suggest sharing Proton on Spliiit

1) Set up your Proton account

1. Ensure you have an active Proton Duo or Proton Family subscription.

2) Post the offer on Spliiit

1. On Spliiit, go to "Propose."
2. Choose Proton
3. Select Duo or Family (monthly/annual)
4. Indicate the number of available seats (1 seat to share on Duo, up to 5 on Family)
5. Publish the offer publicly to receive requests

ℹ️ You can also share privately 🔐: invite only your friends and family.

3) Invite your co-subscribers to Proton (invitation)

From your Proton account:

1. Go to Settings → All settings → Family → Users and addresses)
   
2. Click on Invite user
   
3. Check the assigned storage space (if everything is used, reduce the admin allocation).
   
4. Enter the Proton email address of the member you want to invite, then send the invitation.
   

Co-subscriber: join a Proton offer

1. On Spliiit, search for Proton (🔎) on the marketplace.
2. Join an offer and make the payment
3. Send the owner the email address for your Proton account (or create one if you don't have one).
4. Open the invitation and accept it
5. Enjoy your subscription 🙂

ℹ️ If no offers are available:

• Activate the alert to be notified as soon as a spot becomes available.
  
• or create your offer as a homeowner
  

✅ It works if...

• The owner does have an active Duo/Family subscription.
• There are still places available.

❌ It doesn't work if...

• All seats are already taken.
• The owner has assigned 100% of the storage to their admin account (some must be freed up).
• The wrong email is invited (wrong Proton account)

🛠️ If it's stuck, try...

1. Ask the owner to reduce the admin's storage allocation, then resend the invitation.
2. Check spam/promotions
3. Remove an old member if the limit is reached (then re-invite)
